Our Junior B team took on local rivals Clara in the Northern League/Championship first round on Saturday evening in Bennettsbridge. From the throw in the home side were always in control and finished up on a 0-21 to 1-9 margin. A lot of the Bridge side got in on the scoring act with 7 players raising the white flag. Still missing a number of players through injury or with exams coming up management were again forced to change things and it worked very well. Willie Murphy played on goal as he is recovering from sickness and he did very well both making a few good saves and with great direction in his puck outs. Normal keeper Ben Tynan slotted in at corner forward and he put the first charge over the black spot. Kevin Brennan was deadly accurate with his free taking and there were plenty of them to be taken as the home sides pace was answered by numerous fouls by the Clara men. The Bridge lined out. W Murphy, A Byrne, S Nolan, J Hayes, P O’Neill, E Murphy, L Mc Carthy, L Dowling(0-2), K Brennan(0-9), G Hayes(0-3), P O’Neill(0-1), D Walsh(0-4), B Tynan(0-1), T Kiely, J Murphy(0-1). Subs used. D Donovan, B O’Neill. |
