It was a long time coming but the day eventually came when The Bridge lost a game. Not since the 25th of July had an adult team lost a game and it was heartbreak when it finally came. After a long hard season where there were so many great victories losing this game was as much as anything a shock to our systems. After 3 wins in this grade the team went into this final against city rivals Dicksboro with plenty of confidence. 2 early points saw the boys get off to the perfect start. The Boro hit back with one of their own before the Bridge hit 2 more from frees. However a well taken goal saw the town boys tie it up after 15mins. From there until half time the teams exchanged points until a free on the 30minute mark hit the upright and was cleared left the lads trailing by the minimum 1-4 to 6pts. 15mins into the second had seen the Bridge outscore the Boro by 4pts to 2 and a 1 point lead. However a second goal for the Boro handed them back the momentum. Back came the lads again and 3 further points saw us lead by 1 with 10 to go. Sadly though the boys from the town outscored us in the end and came out on top on a scoreline of 2-10 to 14pts. So there is no day in the park next Sunday in the county final but it is heads down again now as the junior team prepare for the All Ireland semi-final on Jan 25th in Nenagh.
