Well if the final and replay were tight and full of thrills and spills this was not going to be the same. And I’m sure the Bridge boys were glad of that considering just 24 hours after the replay they had to line out again against Coill Dubh of Kildare. Playing on home soil with a great local support in conditions that were not ideal the score board tells all you need to know. After some even exchanges the Bridge boys found their rhythm and in a very short while there was daylight between the teams. After 13 minutes the Bridge were in front by 6pts to 2 with a strong wind in their backs. Then in a 3 minute spell both Willie Murphy who was in instead of the injured Brian Lannon drilled home to the back of the visitors net. Then 3 minutes later H O’Neill finished to the net after good inter play between the forwards. Kevin Brennan was filling in for the injured Nicky Cleere and he took full advantage of his chance by converting any free he took. By half time the result was in no doubt with a score of 2-15 to 0-2. The most notable part of this display was the energy the players showed with the movement off the ball a highlight. The second half was a bit of a damp squib and management had the luxury of bringing on the full quota of subs. So on we go and for now all holidays are off with the boys out again in a couple of weeks. After this game the players, management and supporters were able to get together and celebrate the success and well deserved it was. |
