JJ Kavanagh & Sons Junior S-Final. Bennettsbridge went into this game attempting to reach a 3rd County Final in a row. After losing out the last 2 years they started in a mood which suggested there was no one going to get in their way. After 8mins they were in a 5-1 lead and looking in total control. Then for the next 45mins they played second fiddle to Galmoy who took control of the game winning all the breaking ball and converting every chance they got. At half time Galmoy went in 1-10 to 0-8 in front and deserving of it. The second half started as the first ended with Galmoy putting up the first white flag and when Galmoys scoring machine Phil Russell scored a pointed sideline it looked like the gods were with them. The Bridge were down by 7 points with 15mins to go but 3 pointed frees from Nickey Cleere brought the Bridge back into it and then a Liam Blanchfield goal gave the team the belief it could be their day after all. Bennettsbridge scored a last quarter 2-7 to no score to give an unlikely 6point victory. Galmoy must feel gutted but in fairness to the Bridge they never gave up. On now to the final against Mooncoin who beat O’ Loughlin Gaels in the other semi. The final will be played on the 9th of November in Nowlan Park.
The Bridge lined out as: Enda Cleere, Sean Wemyss, Robert Lennon, James Moran, Jason Cleere, Enda Morrissey, Aidan Cleere, Darragh Wafer (sub 40 mins Willie Murphy), Kevin Blanchfield, Nicky Cleere, Brian Lannon, Michael Shiel (sub 35 mins Cormac Wafer), Liam Blanchfield, Hugh O Neill, Sean Morrissey.
