Bennettsbridge through to AIB Leinster Junior Final

posted Nov 24, 2014, 1:15 AM by Alan Flynn

Bennettsbridge have reached the final of the AIB Leinster Junior Hurling Championship after a convincing win over Wexfords Crossabeg Ballymurn in Enniscorthy on Sunday last. Once again the Bridge started strongly with points from Cormac Wafer , Nicky Cleere and Sean Morrissey in the first 4 minutes. By half time they had stretched the lead to 1-11 to 0-5 with a very well taken and clever goal strike by Nicky Cleere. Six unanswered points in the first 9 minutes of the second half sealed the result and it was free flow the rest of the way home. The Bridge again had the luxury of emptying the bench in the second half given as many players as allowed some game time. They now face Shamrocks of Offaly in the Leinster Final in 2 weeks in Tullamore. Lets just hope the Rollercoaster continues and we will be hurling into the New Year. A great crowd travelled to Enniscorthy both on busses and in cars and the players responded to their support. The team was  E Cleere, S Wemyss, R Lennon, J Moran, J Cleere, E Morrissey, A Cleere 0-2, D Wafer, K Blanchfield, C Wafer 0-2, S Morrissey 0-5, N Cleere1-6, H O Neill, B Lannon 0-2, L Blanchfield 0-2. Subs used Paul O Neill, E Fitzgerald, M Shiel, W Murphy, Patrick O Neill. Lets hope the day is as good in 2 weeks and the result the same. We hope an even bigger crowd travels the next day to support them in the Leinster Final.

The U21 team will play St. Lactains in Jenkinstown this Sunday at 2pm. After winning The Roinn B Final last year they now play in the top division so things will be much harder. Hope to see you all there and keep this fairytale season going.
