The Bridge played the fourth round of the JJ Kavanagh & Sons Junior Hurling League on Saturday evening against Mooncoin. Coming into the game both teams had full points so whoever won this one would top the table and progress to the final with one round remaining. Mooncoin got the opening score from Stephen Crowley but the Bridge responded immediately with a pointed free from N Cleere and then a goal from H O’ Neill put the Bridge into the lead which they never gave away. At half time the Bridge went in 1-9 to 7 points up and had the wind in their backs for the second half. The Bridge had to replace C Wafer at half time after he picked up a hand injury. A goal for Mooncoin 8 minutes into the second half showed they were intent on making a game of it. However a great solo goal by K Blanchfield put a bit of daylight between the teams and from then the team started to take control with some fine scores from E Morrissey and H O’ Neill in particular meant the result was going the way of the Bridge side. A late goal from E Morrissey put a bit of gloss on the result but they were good value for the win. The final score was Mooncoin 1-12 Bennettsbridge 3-17. The Bridge team : E Cleere, P O’ Neill, J Moran, E Fitzgerald, C Wafer, J Cleere, A Cleere, D Wafer, K Blanchfield 1-1, H O’ Neill 1-3, E Morrissey 1-4, N Cleere 0-8, L Blanchfield 0-1, B Lennon, S Morrissey.
