The U 21 team kick started their 2014 campaign in Jenkinstown last Sunday against a strong St. Lactains team. Lining out with 9 of the Junior team the Bridge were in their stride very quickly and after just 10mins led by 6pts to 1. Scores flowed right through the half and some of the scores were a joy to watch. At half time The Bridge led by 14pts to 6 with 8 different players raising white flags and only 1 from a free. In that first half also they hit only 3 wides and committed just 2 fouls and 1 over carry. St.Lactains were not going to lie down and came out blazing in the second half. They narrowed the deficit to 4 points with 10 minutes to go and were well deserved of the comeback. But the boys were not going to let go and these lads know how to win games now and pulled away again scoring 1-3 to no score in the final 6 minutes. The only injury worry at the end for next week was a cut Aidan Cleere picked up in the first half which will be ok. The team was S Nolan, P O’Neill, R Lennon, S Byrne, J Cleere, E Morrissey 0-2, A Cleere, C Wafer 0-3, K Blanchfield 0-2, S Morrissey 0-4, H O’Neill, M Shiel 0-2, D Walsh 0-2, L Blanchfield 0-3, W Murphy 1-3.
