Bennettsbridge Junior B into semi final after convincing win over Erins Own

On Saturday evening in Freshford the lads returned to duty in the Junior B Northern HC ¼ final against Erins Own. This game was more comfortable and after some well taken points in the early stages the Bridge raced into an 8-2 lead before the Comer men staged a mini recovery where they hit 1-2 without reply. Back came the Bridge and on the stroke of half time Willie got on the end of a flowing move and he drilled the ball into the Comer net. We went in 1-10 to 1-06 at half time and were well deserving of the lead. The second half started in a flurry for our lads and they hit 5-1 after just 10 minutes. Kevin Brennan was controlling the game around the middle of the field and after receiving a heavy knock the management decided to push him in to the full forward line for recovery time. This proved very fruitfull and within a couple of minutes Kevin had the ball in the net and it was game over. Scores were coming from all angles at this stage and the management used the full quota of subs who also got in on the scoring. The final score was BB 2-24 to E Own 1-9. They will now face Danesfort in the semi final and this should prove a greater test. The good news for the Bridge was to see a few of our injured players make a come back and once again this grade are asking questions of the Intermediate management. A minutes silence was observed before this game in memory of Sean Brennan who passed away suddenly on the 6th . Sean will be greatly missed at all the games and we would like to offer his family our deepest sympathies. The Team and scorers.
