The Bennettsbridge hurling season got under way officially last weekend with our Junior B team up against Barrow Rangers in Paulstown last Saturday evening. In trying conditions The Bridge lads played against the wind in the opening half and after not playing to their best they went in at half time losing 1-5 to 0-5 . Once the second half started the Bridge boys started to dig deep and each and every one of them threw their shoulder to the wheel and the scores started to come their way. More importantly they stopped the Rangers from scoring and in the end the score read 0-12 to 1-07 meaning the Bridge won the second half by 0-7 to 0-2 which was what they deserved given their performance. This was a great result for the team when you consider they were missing a number of players. To get off to a winning start gives the team a great start to the season and the future is bright if the effort continues. The team was B Tynan, S Nolan, P O’Neill, B O’Neill, E Fitzgerald, S Byrne, M Power, E Murphy(0-1), M Shie(0-1)l, D Walsh(0-1), W Duggan, K Brennan(0-7, 4fs), A Byrne, R Walsh, L Dowling(0-1).
